Aiera: Initiation of Coverage
Market Definition
GAII Intelligence defines the AI Research & Intelligence market as software that applies generative and agentic AI to the research process of professional investors: locating candidate securities, assembling and interrogating evidence, producing written analysis with traceable sources, and monitoring positions once held. Buyers are hedge funds, long-only managers, multi-manager platforms, family offices and allocators; the economic buyer is typically the chief technology officer, the head of research, or a portfolio manager with a technology budget.
Capabilities we treat as mandatory
- Evidence retrieval at scale: the ability to search and reason across regulatory filings, transcripts and news, and across documents the client supplies.
- Source traceability: every material claim in an output must be reachable back to the passage that supports it.
- Institutional data handling: a stated position on where client data goes, how long it is held, and whether it is used for model training.
Capabilities we treat as differentiating
- Persistent state: the system remembers a thesis, a coverage list or a position between sessions and acts on it without being re-prompted.
- Workflow surfaces: delivery inside the applications analysts already use — the spreadsheet, the research management system, email and messaging.
- Owned or exclusive content: material that a competitor cannot obtain by signing the same third-party contract.
- Published evaluation: a measured, disclosed accuracy methodology rather than an assertion of quality.
Aiera competes in event and transcript intelligence with Quartr, AlphaSense, Bloomberg, FactSet and S&P transcripts. Its permissioned broker content positions it as a content layer for AI assistants and platforms rather than a standalone research terminal.
Strengths
The following are the capabilities and characteristics that, in our assessment, most distinguish Aiera within the AI Research & Intelligence market. Each is drawn from publicly documented product capability, published interviews with management, or independent hands-on review.
- Permissioned sell-side content: Eleven research providers back Aiera and permission research for AI delivery — the input buy-side firms say they value most.
- AI-assistant distribution: An MCP connector inside Claude for Financial Services, confirmed by Anthropic, a ChatGPT app and Azure, Anthropic and OpenAI connector libraries.
- Event coverage: Live audio and transcripts for 45,000+ events a year across 13,000+ equities, with macro and regulatory events from the Columba acquisition.
- Open evaluation: A public finance leaderboard, a methods paper and a study that reports where its own data did not help.
- Sell-side leadership: A CEO who ran Internet research, a chairman who was Citi's global research COO, and a head of product from Point72, AlphaSense, Bloomberg and FactSet.
- Workflow integrations: BlueMatrix, Eidosmedia, Q4 and Fiscal.ai integrations, and a Buy-Side Advisory Council.
Cautions
The following are factors that prospective clients should weigh, and areas where our public review did not find sufficient evidence to reach a settled view. Several are common across vendors at this stage of the market and are not specific to Aiera. We encourage prospective clients to raise each of them directly with the company; we have done the same, and will update this note as answers arrive.
- Change of control: BlueMatrix, majority-owned by Thoma Bravo, agreed on 8 October 2026 to acquire Aiera, with closing expected in the fourth quarter. Buyers should seek assignment, price and exit protections.
- Compliance evidence: We did not locate SOC 2, ISO 27001, SSO/SAML/SCIM, data residency, retention terms, zero data retention, an MNPI policy or a product subprocessor list.
- Training scope: Customer data is excluded from training general-purpose models, while public event audio is used for training; buyers should confirm treatment of their own content and prompts.
- Coverage claims: Event counts have moved between 60,000 and 45,000 and back to 50,000, and transcript accuracy is stated as both 99% and 99.9%.
- Self-run benchmarks: The leaderboard's research task uses a private question set run through Aiera's own MCP server.
- Customer evidence: No named customers, customer count or case studies were located; the banks are described as backers.
- Pricing: Pricing is enterprise-only, and broker access depends on each provider's entitlement.
- Hosting: Materials name both AWS and Azure; the production cloud is unclear.
Company Profile
Aiera, Inc., a Delaware corporation, was founded in 2017 by Ken Sena, formerly head of global Internet equity research at Wells Fargo Securities and Evercore ISI, and Bryan Healey, formerly of Amazon's Alexa engineering team. It is based at 300 Park Avenue, New York, with offices in Boston, Los Angeles and London, and acquired Columba Systems, an event-calendar data firm, in 2023.
Aiera raised a $3.5m seed led by Flybridge in 2018 and a $25m Series B in June 2025 backed by a consortium of research providers including BofA, Barclays, Citi, HSBC, UBS and Third Bridge, with Microsoft as a strategic technology partner; SEC filings show about $35–42m raised in total. On 8 October 2026 BlueMatrix, majority-owned by Thoma Bravo, agreed to acquire the company.

Product and Capabilities
Aiera delivers event intelligence and permissioned content to analysts and to AI assistants. Figure 2 sets out our assessment of how it maps onto the investment workflow.
Events and transcripts
Live audio, AI first drafts about six minutes after an event, and human-reviewed transcripts as a premium tier.
Summaries and alerts
AI summaries, event calendar and watchlist alerts across corporate, conference, macro and regulatory events.
Content delivery platform
Entitlement-aware delivery of broker research and Third Bridge content, with usage metrics for providers (June 2026).
AI and developer access
Core Data MCP in Claude and ChatGPT, enterprise APIs, mobile and embeddable components.
Scope of the product today
We did not locate Excel, Teams or Copilot integrations, client document ingestion or distribution through FactSet, Bloomberg or LSEG.

AI and Technology
Aiera develops its own speech-recognition, NLP and generative models, and provides connector libraries for Anthropic, OpenAI and Azure. Its MCP server exposes transcripts, summaries, filings, the event calendar, documents and watchlists.
Aiera publishes more evaluation material than most peers: a finance leaderboard with public datasets, a June 2026 methods paper ranking frontier models, and a study showing that seven of thirteen models gained little from its data.
Data and Content
Content spans live and human-reviewed transcripts for 45,000+ events a year, SEC filings, press releases, the event calendar, broker research permissioned by eleven providers, Third Bridge expert content and Fiscal.ai fundamentals.
Broker access depends on each provider's entitlement. Consensus estimates and client document ingestion were not located.
Investment Workflow Fit
Aiera fits the monitoring stage of the investment process: following live events, receiving summaries and alerts, and pulling permissioned research into an AI assistant.
It is not a modelling or deliverable tool, and idea generation is limited to event discovery.
Enterprise Readiness
Aiera describes encryption at rest, private cloud networks, access logging with anomaly alerts and entitlement-aware, auditable delivery, and its privacy policy excludes customer data from training general-purpose models. Figure 3 sets out what our public review located.

We would encourage buyers to request SOC 2 and ISO evidence, SSO, retention and residency terms, a product subprocessor list, and BlueMatrix's post-close plans.
The offsetting factor is the sell-side relationship itself: eleven research providers permission their content through Aiera, implying diligence by demanding counterparties.
Commercial Model
Aiera does not publish pricing; enterprise pricing is available by demo. Broker research access depends on each provider's entitlement.
The value case is one service for live events, human-reviewed transcripts and permissioned research inside AI assistants. Buyers should budget for entitlements and seek change-of-control terms.
Competitive Position
Aiera sits in the Emerging quadrant of the GAII Intelligence Matrix, held back by enterprise evidence and modelling fit, with content rights and distribution as its strengths.

Context — How To Use This Research
This note is an assessment of a vendor against a defined framework, not a recommendation to buy or to decline. The following are the considerations we would put at the centre of an evaluation of Aiera specifically.
If you are a fundamental equity manager
- Test coverage and transcript accuracy on your own universe.
- Use the Claude or ChatGPT connector before buying a separate seat.
- Confirm which broker research you are entitled to.
If you are responsible for technology or vendor risk
- Open with Figure 3; request security evidence directly.
- Add change-of-control terms to any new contract.
- Confirm cloud provider and residency.
If you are assessing the category rather than the company
- Permissioned broker research is becoming the scarce input for AI research.
- Content providers are reaching analysts through AI assistants rather than terminals.
- Consolidation is reaching research-content infrastructure.

Methodology
The GAII Intelligence Framework scores every company in coverage on six dimensions, each built from sub-criteria. Evidence is weighted in descending order: verifiable primary evidence such as attestations, contracts, published documentation and named references; then the company's completed GAII questionnaire and analyst briefing; then public secondary sources. Claims that cannot be corroborated are recorded as company-reported and do not raise a score.
| 1. Product Capability | 20% | What the product does: workflow breadth, output quality, agentic autonomy, usability, fidelity of deliverables, configurability. |
| 2. AI & Technology | 20% | How it is built: model strategy and provider dependency, retrieval and reasoning, citation fidelity, published evaluation, engineering depth, shipping velocity. |
| 3. Data & Content | 17.5% | What it knows: filings and transcripts, expert content, broker research, consensus data, client-material ingestion, coverage and auditability. |
| 4. Investment Workflow Fit | 17.5% | How it fits the process: buy-side design, idea generation, monitoring, modelling, delivery surfaces, adoption support. |
| 5. Enterprise Readiness | 15% | Whether it can be bought: certifications, deployment, data governance, access control, compliance, vendor viability, support. |
| 6. Commercial Value | 10% | Whether it is worth it: price transparency, total cost of ownership, value against the alternative, contract flexibility, return evidence, pricing alignment. |
Rating bands
| 8.5 – 10.0 | Leader | Category-defining capability with the platform maturity to support standardisation across a firm. |
| 7.5 – 8.4 | Strong | Suitable for enterprise deployment following normal diligence. |
| 6.5 – 7.4 | Established | Credible for targeted deployment, with specific areas to clarify during evaluation. |
| 5.5 – 6.4 | Emerging | Well suited to pilot deployment while particular capabilities continue to develop. |
| Below 5.5 | Specialist | Deliberately narrow functional focus, or areas we are still evaluating. |
Outlook definitions: Improving — we expect the overall score to rise at the next review on evidence already visible. Stable — no directional change expected within two review cycles. Softening — we expect the score to decline on competitive, commercial or execution evidence. Under Evaluation — material questions remain open; the score may move in either direction once they are resolved.
Matrix construction: Investment Utility (horizontal) = Product Capability × 0.40 + Data & Content × 0.30 + Investment Workflow Fit × 0.30. Market & Innovation Strength (vertical) = AI & Technology × 0.40 + Enterprise Readiness × 0.35 + Momentum × 0.25, where Momentum is a separate 0–10 assessment of capital position, traction, growth and strategic backing. Quadrant boundaries sit at 7.50 on both axes for the current cohort and are restated at each quarterly review.
